The liquidation of damages in the insurance industry requires the application of different professional knowledge whose specialization comes through individual professionalism and application to concrete cases whose path is necessarily marked by the experience gained in examining an important case history. Per meglio comprendere la nostra attivita’ occorre ripercorrere brevemente alcune nozioni di base tenendo presente che l’origine di un incendio va determinata partendo dalla conoscenza del suo processo . La combustione è una reazione chimica che avviene tra un combustibile ed un comburente accompagnata dal rilascio di energia ed affinché ciò avvenga è necessaria la combinazione di tre grandezze fisiche:

  • Combustibile;
  • Comburente;
  • Energia di attivazione o calore.

Queste sono rappresentabili mediante un triangolo detto triangolo del fuoco:

In esso:

  • Il combustibile è la sostanza in grado di bruciare ;
  • Il comburente è la sostanza che permette al combustibile di bruciare, ed è l’ossigeno contenuto nell’aria ;
  • L’energia di attivazione è il calore necessario ad elevare la temperatura della miscela combustibile comburente al di sopra di certi valori per poter avviare la combustione.
Attività di Fire Investigation

The study of the effects of fire carried out by our specialist unit , based even only on the brief notions mentioned above, is a complex work that goes through an articulated path that can be briefly summarized as follows :

Determination of the geometry of the fire, Reconstruction of the evolution of the fire, Identification of the path of propagation and the starting point ,Search for evidence related to the cause, Information gathering, collection of residue samples, laboratory analysis aimed at detecting the presence of accelerants , physical and photographic survey of the sites storing the effects of the fire in the host environment and on the residue.

In fact, the fire generates a series of gaseous and solid products and smoke and then reduces to ashes, that are the residues of combustion and that remain even after combustion is finished. At this stage the timeliness of intervention is essential in order to examine the residues of the accident before the normal/anomal contamination being able, thus , also to verify the presence on site or in the immediate surroundings of "suspicious" accelerants and find, in contradictory , any materials present or otherwise absorbent in proximity of the outbreaks in order to submit them indisputably to laboratory investigations .

Studying the effects of heat and then reconstructing its quantity through knowledge of the materials will be useful in continuing the logical reconstruction of the event by examining those who participated in or were the subject of the event.

Similarly, the reconstruction of the fire entity , provides , as indirect data , an amount of heat that will have to be verified as proportional to the type of fuel ( we will thus try to understand what has burned and whether what has burned corresponds to what is declared therein ) .
